Giropoma takes part in launching the DevoraPomes campaign to encourage apple consumption among children

Giropoma, together with Fructícola Empordà and Girona Fruits, has launched the DevoraPomes campaign, a communication and outreach initiative aimed at children and the education community, with a planned duration of five years. The project, EU-funded, was created with the aim of raising awareness among children and families about the importance of including apples in a healthy, balanced diet, while also showcasing the IGP Poma de Girona in a fun and approachable way.

The three driving companies bring together the leading apple producers from the Girona region and are part of the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Poma de Girona, a seal that guarantees the origin and quality of apples grown in our area.

An educational, hands-on approach

The campaign has a very important educational component. Through the schools section of the devorapomes.cat website, teachers and educators will find materials, activities and ideas for working on healthy eating in a participatory and engaging way in the classroom. Schools in the Girona area that want to take part in the campaign and access the workshops and activities can get in touch through the same website.

The stars of the campaign are the DevoraPomes, playful, curious and very greedy imaginary creatures that appear whenever someone bites into an apple with enthusiasm. Through them, children discover the apple varieties grown in Girona: Gala, Golden, Granny Smith and Red Delicious  and their health benefits in a fun, visual way.

Poma de Girona: a local, quality product

Beyond its nutritional value, DevoraPomes champions the worth of local produce. Biting into a Poma de Girona apple means biting into a piece of the land: a product grown right here, with a guaranteed name and origin, that supports local farmers and reduces the environmental impact of transport.
